"Understory"
In 2024, Common Object Studio was selected to participate in Haworth's DesignLab, an initiative that brings together designers and artists to create unexpected, emotive, and immersive experiences with a focus on circular design and sustainability.
For their DesignLab project titled "Understory," Common Object created a 100% bio-based and biodegradable vibrant landscape, including stools and space dividers. They utilized local materials such as waste wool from farmers, willow sticks, salvaged wood, and hemp hurd mixed with soda lime. These materials were chosen for their ability to be returned to the earth, aligning with the studio's commitment to regenerative design and empowering local communities.
